Received this e-mail today from the League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund in support of Jaime Harrison (D. SC), Theresa Greenfield (D. IA) and Steve Bullock’s (D. MT) U.S. Senate campaigns:
We have some game-changing new polling to share with you.
Extremely competitive races that were once seen as longshots are now opening up for environmental champions to flip the Senate and win big in November.
Newly updated polling has made one thing very clear: Voters are tired of Mitch McConnell and his Senate allies prioritizing polluter profits over our health and environment. From the climate crisis to the COVID-19 pandemic, senators like Lindsey Graham, Joni Ernst, and Steve Daines have prioritized bailouts for Big Oil and polluters over providing necessary aid to our families and communities suffering the most. Their compliance with the Mitch McConnell anti-environment and anti-science agenda needs to come to an end.
New polling shows us real opportunities to take McConnell’s allies out of the Senate. We need the environmental movement to step up big to give campaigns critical funding to get their pro-science message out and compete against climate denier incumbents who are all desperate to keep hold of their seats.
Trump and McConnell have failed at every turn to protect our families and communities from the ever-increasing impacts of climate change. Their attacks on the environment and public health have been detrimental to our communities, especially to communities of color and low-wealth communities that have dealt with poor air and water quality for far too long. If you care about holding polluters accountable and protecting our air, water, and lands, then we need you to invest in Jaime Harrison, Theresa Greenfield, and Steve Bullock today.
Newly released polling in South Carolina shows environmental champion Jaime Harrison is now extremely competitive in the race to defeat Lindsey Graham. This race was always seen as a longshot, but South Carolinians are fed up with Graham and his consistent record of voting in lockstep with the McConnell polluter agenda. Jaime has the experience needed to bring key environmental wins to the Palmetto state — he opposes offshore drilling and supports investing in infrastructure to support South Carolina’s coastal communities in order to combat rising sea levels. Lindsey Graham is backed by pro-polluter donors who are funneling dark money into this race to defend a McConnell ally — can you chip in $5 to Jaime’s campaign today to help him flip this seat?
The race to defeat Joni Ernst in Iowa is also heating up. In just the past month, Theresa has eliminated a five-point lead and now sits within one point of Ernst. Theresa has a background in farming and understands how devastating Joni Ernst’s failed leadership has been on families in Iowa as they face consistent droughts and flooding-related disasters. Theresa Greenfield’s messaging is resonating with voters — will you help her today to get her pro-environment message out to all Iowans and close the gap?
In Montana, Governor Steve Bullock’s race against Steve Daines is still a toss up and we need the environmental movement to keep it that way — Montana is a must-win seat to flip the Senate in November. Steve Bullock has experience winning highly competitive statewide races: He won a second term as governor in 2016 even while Trump carried the state by 20 points. Montanans trust Steve’s steady environmental record and are fed up with poor leadership from Steve Daines. Steve Bullock will continue to fight to protect Montana’s public lands and invest in the state’s clean energy capacity — can you chip in directly to his campaign today?
We understand how difficult this time is for everyone and we hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe. Thank you for being a part of this movement and for stepping up to support these environmental champions.
