The big event this week was the dramatic testimony of Michael Cohen to Congress. In addition to implicating Trump of a much deeper involvement in election collusion than previously understood, Cohen questioned whether Trump would even relinquish power peacefully. Meanwhile, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez deftly laid a trap to allow Democrats to subpoena Trump’s tax records.
However, this was far from the only news this week. The Trump administration also implemented a policy to severely cut funding for Planned Parenthood and was immediately sued for it. Meanwhile, the costs of Trump’s trade policies became more apparent as the USDA reported $1.9bn drop in US agricultural exports as a direct result of his trade war.
