People will disagree on whether Barack Obama really should have gotten a Nobel so soon after becoming president, but I think we can all agree that Trump’s award is richly deserved.
On December 10, 2009, President Barack Obama was in Oslo, Norway, accepting his Nobel Peace Prize.
Ten years later, on December 10, 2019, Donald Trump was sitting on his toilet flushing for the 13th time as he became just the fourth president in history to be officially confronted with articles of impeachment.
Of course, Trump is on record as saying he deserves a Nobel — or three: “I think I’ll get a Nobel prize for a lot of things if they gave it out fairly, which they don’t,” he said in September.
A lot of things? Uh, they don’t give out Nobel Prizes in Medicine for proving you can make it past 70 subsisting entirely on fried chicken skin, Adderall, and McRib sandwiches. Maybe they should, but they don’t.
Of course, this is just a quirk of history, but it’s a fun one, innit? — and one that somebody needs to point out to the laurel-less slubberdegullion squatting in the White House ASAP.
I’m sure he’ll be cool with it. You know how much he loves and respects Obama.
It’s not like he’ll go nuts and spend the rest of the day retweeting Stormfront or something.
