Bibi is NOT “Our” Prime Minister

The Times of Israel and other news outlets are reporting that, when Trump spoke to a group of Republican Jews in Las Vegas yesterday (on the Sabbath, no less!), he told them that

“I stood with your prime minister at the White House to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights,” Trump told a meeting of the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas Saturday, referring to Netanyahu, who is the prime minister of Israel.

A number of Israeli news media picked this up — the Jerusalem Post and Ha’aretz, for starters, and their readers are not pleased. As Ha’aretz phrased it,

Trump still seems to think that he's speaking to a group of Israelis.

Talking Points Memo collected the reactions from American Jewish leaders: American Jewish Orgs To Trump: Netanyahu Is Not ‘Our’ Prime Minister.

This is how Trump and the GOP, and idiots like Sheldon Adelson, think they will get Jews to vote Republican: Play up the old anti-Semitic theme that American Jews aren’t loyal to the US. Nice going, Shelly.

This goes along with other Trump comments about Jews, such as his tweeting of Hillary with a Star of David and calling her “the most corrupt candidate ever,” and especially his calling the Charlottesville Nazis “good people” as they chanted “Jews will not replace us.”

Jews have long memories, and we will remember “your prime minister” on top of all the other nasty cracks come 2020.
