Russell has closely examined the candidates’ climate policies and these are his conclusions:

“There is a closing window on climate action. It is not decades away. It’s not years away. It is now. Bernie Sanders knows it, and his Green New Deal proposal reflects that knowledge and courage. Our nation must find the courage to leap.”

“Joe Biden’s proposals might appear bold and adequate, but they are not. They are plans from another time. They include a continuation of fracking. Full stop! This is what I call ‘climate make believe.’”

“We cannot continue to pretend that natural gas is a bridge fuel to averting climate collapse. Science tells us otherwise. Senator Sanders has recognized this and been calling for a ban on fracking for years. And he has introduced legislation to do just that.”

“Why would we gamble with our future for the benefit of the fossil fuel industry? As President, Bernie Sanders will lead us to 100% clean, renewable energy by 2030–and create 20 million new good jobs in the process.”

“Biden would be an unspeakable disaster on climate. My heart aches to think of it. Many voters are motivated by climate. We must let them know how unprepared Biden is.”

“This is a challenging story to tell. If you read Biden’s climate proposals, you could easily think he was ready to lead. He is not.”

“One of the KEY differences in Senator Sanders LONG time clear, uncompromised call for the banning of fracking.”

“Bernie gets it. He understands that if we have any chance of staving off the worst effects of the climate emergency, we MUST stop emissions.“

“Also, please note: the idea of this campaign is not to convert the converted. We are targeting the climate voter who mistakenly believes Biden is ready to lead on climate. We are asking them to join us. INVITING them in.”
