Received this e-mail today from actor and activist, Bradley Whitford, in support of Governor Tony Evers’ (D. WI) re-election campaign:
Gov. Tony Evers (D. WI) & Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes (D. WI)
Hey there,
While some might know me from shows likeThe West Wing(a fantasy series about American politics that imagines it functioning much better than it does in real life), most folks don't know that I was born and raised in Wisconsin.
So, when I see Republicans in the Legislature refusing to work with Tony Evers and even actively undermining his efforts to keep Wisconsin safe in this pandemic, I feel a surge of anger.
It's one thing to disagree about politics, but keeping folks safe should not be a partisan issue.
He just proposed a historic budget to help Wisconsin bounce back, but Republicans want to play partisan games rather than focus on our future. I am confident that the GOP's decision to obstruct instead of working with Tony will backfire in a big way.
That's because Wisconsinites don't take kindly to folks who are more about complaining than getting things done.
Wisconsinites are humble, kind, and they deeply care.In short, they couldn’t be more different than Republican leader Robin Vos and his anti-science caucus.
The bottom line is this: we can't let Republicans use fear and demagoguery to undo Tony’s hard work. Our future is on the line, and we need to step up.
