The petition was filed on March 9th, which means that in 7 days the vote total has gone over the White House response trigger by a margin of three to one.
DON'T MISS OUT !!
On March 9th, 2015, forty-seven United States Senators committed a treasonous offense when they decided to violate the Logan Act, a 1799 law which forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law with imprisonment of up to three years.
At a time when the United States government is attempting to reach a potential nuclear agreement with the Iranian government, 47 Senators saw fit to instead issue a condescending letter to the Iranian government stating that any agreement brokered by our President would not be upheld once the president leaves office….
What this should call for is appointment of a Special Prosecutor, not instant gratification. But here you have to go with the petition you've got.
Signing is easy. You enter your name and email. No biggie, maybe 30 seconds or so.
Y'all come !!
P.S. The petition might also have mentioned that the GOP47 are ignorant with respect to the Non-Proliferation Treaty of 1968. This matters because 190 countries have ratified the NPT and that is how these deals are injected into international law. Their action could damage the treaty's standing worldwide.
The Security Council at United Nations is the management structure for NPT. The current sanctions on Iran were enacted as a Resolution by Security Council in 2010. (Vote: 12-2-1.) Replacing the current Resolution is dependent solely on action of the Security Council. There is no role in this process that involves the U.S. Senate.
The new 2015 Resolution will not be an “executive agreement.”
Plainly the GOP47 have not read the Treaty Clause of the U.S. Constitution and they are blissfully unaware of the Non-Proliferation Treaty. As ignorant on nuclear weapons as Dick Cheney and Scooter Libby ??? The non-proliferation saboteurs? Seems possible.
