In solidarity, Mike Hersh for Alan, Shayna, Deb, Kimberly, Bryan, Mike F., Dr. Bill, Dan, and Janis—your PDA national team.
This past week, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) watched two nights of debates during which progressive candidates eviscerated corporatist canards. We were overall encouraged by the discussion.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren proved to be a skilled debater when she challenged Rep. John Delaney by saying, “I don’t understand why anybody goes to all the trouble of running for president of the US just to talk about what we really can’t do and shouldn’t fight for.”
Sen. Bernie Sanders may have had the best line of the campaign so far. Rep. Tim Ryan inexplicably tried to dispute Bernie’s explanation of what the Medicare For All Act will do. When Ryan said, “You don’t know that….” Bernie said “I do know that, I wrote the damn bill!”
The give and take on the debate stage helps to promote already overwhelmingly popular policies like Medicare For All, decisive action on the Climate Emergency, the Green New Deal, and Student Debt Cancellation.
Still, we can’t just watch candidates if we want to get things done. Luckily, PDA makes it easy for you to make a difference by taking action on important issues. Contact Mike Fox to get involved with PDA’s issue organizing.

The Koch Brothers promote Junk Climate Science to perpetuate suicidal policies including subsidies and blocking necessary steps re: the Climate Emergency. The Koch network uses its wealth and influence within universities and pseudo-scientific organizations to spread doubt about the climate crisis. The national Medicare For All (MFA) coalition keeps adding more House cosponsors, and we need as many House and Senate cosponsors as we can get! Call Congress at 202-858-1717 and Click Here to tell your Representative to Cosponsor Rep. Jayapal’s and Rep. Debbie Dingell’sMedicare For All Act.

Join PDA demanding accountability for Trump. We’ve had terrible presidents before, but Trump violates even the lowest possible standards. His racist attacks on members of Congress, hateful rants against immigrants, reckless threats, and rank dishonesty all raise concerns about his fitness for office.

Keep up the pressure for Justice Or Bust by condemning Trump’s inhumane, punitive, and bigoted border policies that only cause human suffering—and we continue to condemn the generations of exploitative imperialist policies that caused and continue to exacerbate the crisis.
Please Click Here to contact your Senators and Representative to demand Congress hold hearings to end and reverse failed neocolonialist policies.
The Student Debt Crisis looms as a dark cloud over our economy. PDA Executive Director Alan Minsky reports, “Senator Bernie Sanders and Rep. Ilhan Omar introduced legislation to cancel all outstanding student debt; their bills compliment parallel legislation that would make all public state and community colleges tuition free.”
Alan explains, ”If passed, these bills would solve a massive crisis that has been suffocating the American economy and burdening the lives of 45 million working and middle class Americans.” Click Here to sign on as a grassroots cosponsor of the Student Debt Cancellation legislation.
We appreciate all you do to help make progress on these and other issues. If you’ve never donated to PDA before, now is the perfect time. We need your support more than ever. Click Here to support PDA’s issue organizing.
