War of His Own World

In the Tom Cruise sci-fi film version of War of the Worlds, the unstoppable aliens intent on destroying mankind was eventually killed by the earth’s polluted environment, a floating swamp so to speak. What is destroying the Trump administration is the poisonous environment he has created. Involving himself in foreign collusion, willingly violating campaign laws, having unvetted members of his family, who cannot pass FBI background checks, privy to state secrets and now changing the role of the head of the Department of Justice to acting as his Tom Hagen.
I would not be surprised if AG William Barr had the son of Khartoum’s head placed in the bed of the leader of UK Intelligence. Ostensibly, Barr’s meeting with UK officials was to formally discuss “the risks and opportunities of new technologies.” Coincidentally, (wink, wink) he brought up the FBI investigation into Ukraine/Russian involvement into the 2016 American election. These coincidences seem to have a way of finding their way into the decision making of the Oval Office: the firing of James Comey, following his refusal to stop the investigation into Russian collusion, the firing of Michael Flynn eighteen days after it was disclosed by future acting Attorney General Sally Yates that he [Flynn] had placed calls to Russian envoy Sergey Kislyak.
Mr. Trump and his former Campaign Chairman, Paul Manafort, suggesting changes to the Republican Party’s platform on Ukraine/United States defense strategy against Russian incursion. How can anyone doubt, at this point, that President Trump threatened abandonment of Ukraine, in its efforts to stop the further invasion by the Russians? “We are ready to continue to cooperate for the next steps specifically we are almost ready to buy more Javelins [anti-tank missiles] from the United States for defense purposes,” Ukraine President Zelensky told Trump. Mr. Trump’s response can only be described as extortion, “I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it,” Mr. Trump replied. The examples of this constant skirting of the law, lying and putting America second happen too much and too often to be a coincidence.
My sons will roll their eyes and drop their heads if you mention the word coincidence to them because they have heard me say a million times, ‘once is an accident, twice is a coincidence and three times is a [guilty] trend.’ I have spent the past 21 hours without Donald Trump polluting my environment. From 11am yesterday until 9am this morning I avoided CNN, MSNBC, FOX, Twitter, Facebook and any other form of social or mainstream media. I continued to revel in the celebration of the Washington National World Series victory, shouting and screaming the names of my favorites during their victory parade Saturday.
I watched some evening news on Saturday, read a few newspapers, but with each mention of the name Trump, the news ruined my mood. So, I watched a bit of the Sunday morning shows and gave up at 11 o’clock vowing to avoid the name Trump until Monday morning. It worked, I allowed no one to mention the President’s name and breathed a sigh of relief. I watched football, ate lots of good food, and spoke with family and friends. My advice—take a break, if you continually inhale Trump’s air, eventually it will kill you.
