Received this e-mail yesterday from former Governor Terry McAuliffe’s (D. VA) gubernatorial campaign:

One month ago we watched in horror as violent insurrectionists stormed the U.S. Capitol. All told, five people died, and with reports of bomb threats and threats on the lives of the Vice President and the Speaker of the House, that tragic day could have been even worse.

No matter what you hear from Donald Trump or Senate Republicans this week, here’s the truth:

January 6, 2021 wouldn't have happened without Donald Trump. He incited it. He encouraged it, and he must be held accountable for it.

Please, join me in demanding that Senate Republicans convict Donald Trump for his role in inciting the violent insurrection at our nation’s Capitol.

The case against Donald Trump is straightforward.

After losing to Joe Biden in a free and fair election, Trump was desperate to keep power.

He spread lies. He tried to intimidate elected officials. And when he called thousands of supporters to Washington, D.C., to fight back against a “stolen” election, he was throwing gasoline on a fire of his own making and encouraging insurrection.

This week is about more than just Donald Trump. It’s about drawing a line in the sand at a perilous moment for our country.

He must be held accountable for his actions so the treasonous violence we saw in Washington, D.C., last month never happens again.

Join me in supporting the conviction of Donald Trump for his crimes against our country.

Thank you,

Terry
