Received this e-mail today from Democracy for America in support of Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s (D. TX) U.S. Senate campaign:
This isridiculous.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz — the guy who once claimed that the GOP had the right to block Supreme Court nominees indefinitely — is now lambasting Democrats for trying to “re-litigate the 2016 election” by “distracting and delaying” the confirmation hearings for Trump nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Well, I've got news for Ted Cruz. We're not re-litigating 2016. We're standing up for the people the GOP is leaving behind with their attacks on healthcare, women’s choice, workers’ and voters’ rights and dozens of other issues affecting all Americans.
And we're fighting to win back power in 2018 —which is exactly why we're backing Cruz’s Democratic opponent Beto O’Rourke for Senate in Texas.
Beto is about fighting for the future, not dragging us back to the past. And unlike Ted Cruz, he’s willing to show up for every Texan and fight for Medicare for All, affordable education, and an economy that works for all of us.
While Ted Cruz accepts campaign contributions from super PACs and powerful special interests like the Koch Brothers, Beto refuses to take a dime from unaccountable corporate PACs.
Ted Cruz's major claims to fame are shutting down the government in an attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act and losing the nomination for President to Trump. On the flip side, Beto is all in for Medicare for All and believes that healthcare is not a privilege, but a basic human right that every American deserves.
Skeptics thought that it would be impossible for a Democrat like Beto to have a chance to unseat Cruz in Texas this year. But polls are showing these two candidates neck and neck.We have a real chance to kick Cruz out of office and send a progressive Democrat like Beto to Washington this November.
