Look, I hate Twitter too but this ridiculous:

One day after an Austin man sued U.S. Sen. John Cornyn in federal court for banning him from his Twitter feed, the Texas Republican unblocked him.

Tod Beardsley, the director of research at Massachusetts-based cybsecurity firm Rapid7, argued Cornyn engaged in “viewpoint-based discrimination and censorship” on a public forum.

But after the American-Statesman contacted Cornyn’s office for comment, a spokesman for the senator said Beardsley was “inadvertently” blocked. By Friday afternoon, Beardsley was able to access Cornyn’s Twitter feed again.

It’s not clear what that means for Beardsley’s lawsuit.

Beardsley, who is based in Austin, is verified on Twitter under the handle @TODB and has more than 7,000 followers.

“I honestly and truly have no idea why Sen. Cornyn blocked me,” he told the American-Statesman Friday morning, adding that he regularly tweets about election security and interacts with his elected officials.

Cornyn has more than 273,000 followers on Twitter, using the handle @JohnCornyn in his official capacity. He does not have another public account.

Cornyn blocked Beardsley within the last 12 months, according to the lawsuit. He sent a letter to Cornyn’s office about the ban but did not hear back.

“Cornyn has knowingly and willfully censored and punished (Beardsley), and others, with a reckless and callous disregard for constitutional rights,” the lawsuit said.

Apparently this isn’t the only time Cornyn has blocked someone:

I’ve blocked people on Twitter but I’m not a public official. If Cornyn can’t handle criticism, maybe he should stop Tweeting stupid shit:

Texas Senator John Cornyn was in a bar enjoying a cold Corona over the weekend as the spread of CORVID-19 intensified and the country began shutting down. The 68-year-old tweeted a photo of his beer in what looked like an otherwise empty bar as health officials have warned people to practice social distancing.

“Be smart; don’t panic. We will get us through this #coronavirus,” he wrote alongside the photo. The tweet quickly got ratio'd to death with 25,000 replies and less than 2,000 retweets.

It came after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell put his chamber in recess for the weekend after the House stayed at work to pass a coronavirus economic bill.

That’s just one of many examples of Cornyn being a dumb ass on Twitter. It’s time to replace this fragile jackass with a real public servant who can handle criticism. MJ Hegar (D.
