Trump's sedition is a serious matter – he wants one state legislature to be the first domino to fall
We’re not humoring Trump’s father Fred with a Potemkin executive desk to humor delusional derangement. It has always been deadly serious. Whatever his bluff, call it.
The current Trump plan seems to be to substitute electors in one state to get a seditious cascade among GOP-majority legislatures.
Sedition is a federal crime and colluding with someone trying to overthrow our government could subject you to fines and a lengthy prison sentence.

NEW: The president intensified his efforts to throw out the results of the 2020 election and make himself the winner — inviting Michigan's GOP leaders to the White House, as he pressures them to nullify President-Elect Biden's win.https://t.co/PtAI8V4cDS— David Fahrenthold (@Fahrenthold) November 19, 2020

‘Raise the alarm’: Experts warn of ‘sedition’ and ‘coup’ attempt as Michigan GOP leaders fly to DC to meet with Trump https://t.co/ZsYvHvhHag
EvenThe New York Timesis reporting: “Trump tries to subvert the election, inviting Michigan G.O.P. lawmakers to the White House.”
“After failing repeatedly in court to overturn election results, President Trump is taking the extraordinary step of reaching out directly to Republican state legislators as he tries to subvert the Electoral College process,” the Times says.
Michigan by law is required to certify its election results Monday, November 23. President-elect Joe Biden won the state by 3 percentage points and over 150,000 votes. There are no credible reports of fraud and yet Trump has declared himself the winner.
Some are worried the lawmakers could use the legislature to substitute Trump-supporting Electoral College electors, thereby swinging the state back to Trump.
This is really nuts. He is actually, actively attempting a coup. Stuart Stevens called it sedition the other night and I'm inclined to agree. https://t.co/OhYhz20aqN
Let's stop being politically correct. What Donald Trump and his GOP supporters are trying right now – overturning the will of the voters in an election – is at least sedition and arguably treason. He's taking a sledgehammer to our republic, just to try to stay out of jail.— Thom Hartmann (@Thom_Hartmann) November 20, 2020

Every public official, every government agency, every state election administrator has been consistent: There is no sign of meaningful election fraud. And yet the president persists with baseless allegations. Hold the GOP responsible for Trump's damage to democracy right now.
To soften the blow of defeat Fox's Geraldo proposes naming the vaccine after Trump. “It would be a nice gesture to him and years from now it would become kind of a generic name. Have you got your trump yet, I got my trump, I'm fine. I wished we could honor him in that way.” pic.twitter.com/fM8qwFhxF6
The ineptitude and craziness of the execution is not the story. The actions are the lede and the truth is for the first time in our history there is a coup underway in America. The majority of elected GOP members support it. They have betrayed America and our ideals. Sedition https://t.co/HVWU7qazVs
Our democracy is fragile, and it is under attack. If the truth of the election results can't break through the right-wing information bubble, it may not survive for long.https://t.co/hXTxm3WQH3
The Perils of Not Prosecuting Trump via @thenationhttps://t.co/QdPWlUkpHp@HeerJeet makes some good points. BUT in practice, Democrats have been so chickensh*t about prosecuting any kind of white collar corruption that it's unlikely they'll start taking it seriously with Trump
But his contemptible, treasonous, seditious assault on the stability of our political compact isn’t about 2024, personal enrichment or anything else other than trying to use chaos & threat to the foundation of the system as leverage to trade for a safe exit. Call. His. Bluff.
