Secretary of State Mike Pompeo may want to take gaslighting lessons from Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kellyanne Conway. Or at least study their tape. He’s not great at it. (Pivot to Hillary, man! You’re going down!)
On CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper yesterday, Pompeo and Tapper were discussing the upcoming North Korea summit when a comedy routine unexpectedly broke out:
TAPPER: Do you — do you think North Korea remains a nuclear threat?
TAPPER: But the president said he doesn't.
POMPEO: That's not what he said. I mean, I know — I know precisely …
TAPPER: He tweeted: “There's no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea.”
POMPEO: Right. What — what he said is that the — what he said was that the efforts that had been made in Singapore, this commitment that Chairman Kim, may have substantially taken down the risk to the American people. It's the mission of the secretary of state and the president of the United States to keep the American people secure. We're aiming to achieve that.
TAPPER: OK. I mean, that's just a direct quote, but I want to move on.
The president’s aides have to do this all … day … long.
I almost feel sorry for them, having to translate declarations on par with “Donnie go boom-boom in underwears” into well-considered presidential communiques.
It still boggles my mind that anyone wants to work for this imperial tonne of rancid clown piss.
Libraries across the country are going to have to dedicate entire wings to the tell-all books from former advisers once our long national nightmare is over.
