As part of the ongoing project to catalog every awful thing the Trump Administration has done as a reference for future political arguments and whatever few posterity survives to see 2020, here’s everything awful the Trump Administration has done this week.
- Trump advisers were caught discussing pursuing more aggressive voter suppression tactics in the 2020 election
1723. Backed Bayer in a court case over its dangerous weedkiller, Roundup
1724. Demanded Democrats strip Ukraine aid language out of spending package
- It was revealed White House officials halted aid to Ukraine halted 91 minutes after Trump’s phone call with Ukraine’s President
1726. Awarded billions in immigrant detention contracts in California
1727. Stopped probing bird deaths due to environmental contaminants
1728. Moved to block sanctions against Turkey for arms purchases
1729. Demonized the homeless in a tweet criticizing Nancy Pelosi
1730. Pushed drug cartel policy listing them as foreign terrorists over objections from his cabinet
Happy holidays. This week people were largely off for the holidays, so developments tended to be more small scale. Trump decided to stop investigating and fining bird deaths, and decided to back Bayer in a court case regarding Roundup. Looking forward to 2020, Trump advisers were caught on tape planning aggressive voter suppression tactics.
As always, I don’t expect to catch everything, so let me know if there’s anything you think I’ve missed. The full omnibus is being maintained here (a spreadsheet version can be found here). For an overall summary, click here.
