Spilling the Tea

My first thoughts are a direct result of a joke by comedian Paula Poundstone.  Recently I heard her say that the little sticker you receive after you vote should be followed by a question mark; at first, I laughed then I frowned. With the startling, but not an unexpected revelation, that the President of the United States offered not only his personal attorney but the Attorney General for the people of America as part of a political hit team to a foreign government, should make us all shutter

It was obvious from the newly released memorandum of the call between the new Ukrainian President, Zelensky, and Mr. Trump that the President [Trump] sought to treat him [Zelensky] like a battered wife, using mild threats, isolation and then make the U.S. President happy, to avoid future beatings. One example of this was when Mr. Trump said, “Well it is very nice of you to say that. I will say that we do a lot for Ukraine. We spend a lot of effort and a lot of time. Much more than the European countries are doing, and they should be helping you more than they are. Germany does almost nothing for you. All they do is talk and I think it's something that you should really ask them about. When I was speaking to Angela Merkel she talks Ukraine, but she ·doesn't do anything. A lot of the European countries are the same way, so I think it's something you want to look at, but the United States has been very very good to Ukraine. I wouldn't say that it's reciprocal necessarily because things are happening that are not good, but the United States has been very very good to Ukraine.

If ever we needed more proof that Donald Trump colluded, conspired, or kissed the ring of Vladimir Putin to win the 2016 Presidential election, we have proof positive of his lack of morality and how it spurs his ambition. President Trump explicitly offered the head of the United States Department of Justice as a clandestine agent to help him defeat who he believes is his anticipated rival [Joe Biden] in the 2020 election. Continuing the conversation, now revolving around the Democratic National Committee’s computer server hack [CrowdStrike], implicit reference was made to the past election. This is a clue that the President is ready and willing to follow the same game plan, “I would like to have the Attorney General call you or your people and I would like you to get to the bottom of it. As you saw yesterday, that whole nonsense ended with a very poor performance by a man named Robert Mueller, an incompetent performance, but they say a lot of it started with Ukraine. Whatever you can do, it's very important that you do it if that's possible,” Mr. Trump reportedly said.

A.G. Barr is denying involvement or even that he was asked to be involved at this point, but this is the same DOJ leader who effectively covered up the real meaning of the Mueller Report. This is the second shoe to drop on the President's scandalous flouting of the sanctity of America’s election process. Putin opened the door and invited an entire party of sycophants to cookies and tea and now it appears Zelensky is being asked to pour, let us hope the whistleblower has enough evidence and courage to spill it.
