Received this e-mail from U.S. Senator Tim Kaine (D. VA) in support of Jaime Harrison’s (D. SC) U.S. Senate campaign:
If we are going to take back the Senate next year — and I believe that we can — Jaime Harrison is going to be a big part of getting us there. So I'm asking you directly: Can you please chip in $10 or more to help Jaime in his fight to flip a Senate seat in 2020?
I don't have to tell you that the Senate would be a more productive, less partisan place with more Democrats in it. But what you might not know is just how much Jaime's presence in the halls of the Capitol would mean for us.
Jaime grew up in Orangeburg, South Carolina in poverty, living in a tiny house where he was raised by his grandparents. Through hard work and determination, he earned a scholarship to Yale and Georgetown Law. He has said many times — and I agree — that what you say matters, and character counts. Jaime has character, and we sure could use him here in the Senate.
The Senate would be a better place with Jaime Harrison in it, and his victory would go a long way toward securing a Democratic majority in 2020. But it won't come without a fight. The NRSC and its army of special interest donors will blanket the airwaves with negative and false attacks.
Thank you for all you're doing,
