SC-Sen: One Two The Lincoln Project's Coming For You

For those of familiar with the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, I hope you appreciated the reference in my title. Any way, here’s some big news out of South Carolina this week:

The Lincoln Project, a powerful group of “never Trump” Republicans, will expand its operation to try and defeat some Senate Republicans — including Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

The group was founded by George Conway, husband of presidential advisor Kellyanne Conway, and seven others who collectively “have spent over 200 years electing Republicans,” according to the group’s website.

Its stated mission is to “defeat Donald Trump and Trumpism,” attacking the president with TV ads that air in Washington and in battleground states across the country. The group, a super PAC formed in 2019, raised $16.8 million in the second quarter of this year.

Lincoln Project co-founder, Reed Galen, didn’t give a number on how much they will invest in taking down Graham but did vow that they would be up on the air “sooner than later”. Meanwhile, Jaime Harrison (D. SC) has invested a lot of money into his digital campaign:

Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina was a vocal critic of candidate Donald Trump in 2016, before becoming one of the president’s most loyal backers in Congress. In a surprisingly tight Senate race, Graham’s challenger, Jaime Harrison, is investing big money on Facebook to remind voters of the flip-flop.

The Harrison campaign has spent $2.04 million on Facebook ads since April 22, according to Facebook’s ads library, by far the most among any candidate running for U.S. Senate. Graham’s campaign is second, doling out $1.01 million on Facebook over the past three months.

Graham, 65, has held his seat since 2003 and is among his party’s leaders as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He was one of the many Republican candidates who went up against Trump four years ago in the presidential primary, describing him along the way as a “race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot” and “unfit for office.”

We need to keep up the momentum and help Harrison get ready to take down Graham. Click below to donate and get involved with Harrison and Biden’s campaigns:
