The other Republican Senator from Texas is trying desperately to bail out Ted Cruz, who is in deep electoral doo doo in the Lone Star Senate Race.
“Just 24 hours after Sen. Ted Cruz and Democrat Beto O'Rourke agreed to a series of debates, Texas Sen. John Cornyn wanted to draw O'Rourke into a discussion about guns over social media.
Cornyn, a Republican, on Saturday night started the exchange by Tweeting out an old clip of O'Rourke saying in February that he opposed selling AR-15s in America.
“I just don't think we should be selling AR-15s in this country,” O'Rourke says in the video clip Cornyn tweeted out to his 140,000 followers.
Cornyn Tweeted out the question: “For self defense?”
Beto chose not to reply to the Senior Senator from the NRA but Chief Acevedo did:
Cornyn fired back with standard NRA boilerplate. To which Acevedo reasonably replied:
When questioned by The Chronicle as to why he jumped in, Acevedo said he didn’t do it to help Beto but that…
“You have to stand for something.”
That’s right Chief, unless you are a Republican Senator in the age of drumpf, then you’ll lay down for anything.
Meanwhile Cruz is now babbling about Bar-B-Que.
