It is often alleged/believed that PM of India Narendra Modi gave various benefits to two particular billionaires in India named Goutam Adani and Anil Ambani in the form of government contracts.
For instance, the purchase of Rafale has been attributed to the cooperation between the government and Anil Ambani's Reliance group. It is said that Anil Ambani's group had been on the verge of collapse and bankruptcy and PM Modi saved him by awarding him that particular defense contact and tax relief for that matter as well.
Now, unlike South African president Jacob Zuma, PM Modi never got married. He has no children or relatives for whom he has to earn money. He doesn't have any known wealth either.
So, my question is: What kind of benefit does Modi have in favoring those billionaires? In other words, why would Modi have to favor billionaires? For whose benefit?
