India and countries of Africa are equally diverse. However almost every African country has been plagued with genocidal level ethnic conflicts and disruptive civil wars. Central African Republic for example is yet to see peacetime, Sudan still has genocidal conflicts, Nigeria was defined by civil war for an entire generation etc.
Not claiming India does not have its own ethnic conflicts small scale revolts such as National Democratic Front of Bodoland, 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Kashmir Conflicts, Gujarat riots etc.
However none of these are at the scale of the civil wars in Sri Lanka, Nigeria where 1 group was able to completely secede and levels of violence were genocidal. the conflict in Darfur which is ongoing and still genocidal while no conflict in India is currently genocidal although some in the past have flirted with that level.
Since the phrase world's largest democracy is used trendily with India (idk if it is true) is it the presence of Robust democratic institutions, and what Fukuyama calls precedent against authoritarianism in india the reason for this ?
