Lenin considered monopolistic capitalism to be the necessary and immediate predecessor of socialism. His NEP was based on trusts (трест in Russian, now a rare word). By the end of 1922, 90% of Russian industry was converted to 421 trust, 80% of trusts being united into syndicates (end of 1922). So, anti-trust is a step backwards.
