Why did the number of Nazis in the German Bundestag increase significantly in 1953? [migrated]

Looking at the list of former Nazi party members who were politically active after '45, we can see that there was a significant increase in '53 (from 17 to 45, so almost three times as many). That is the only drastic change, as after that, there is a slow but steady decline:

What changed in '53 that the amount increased so significantly in that year? I assume that around that time a number of Nazis were released from prison, but I'm not sure that alone would account for the drastic change.
