Even today, women candidates have a delicate balance to maintain between seeming mannish or appearing too girly.
However, most (or all?) Presidents of the United States of America are considered manly men, and the same thing can be said to almost all male French Heads of State (both monarchs and presidents), and even all other world male Heads of State.
Why are effeminate politicians so rare?
