Russia and Ukraine are two major exporters of wheat. Russia is the largest wheat exporter in the world, while Ukraine is the fifth-largest wheat exporter (see List of countries by wheat exports ).
Together, they account for about a third of the world's wheat exports. Russia is also the largest exporter of fertilizers. They also export many other agricultural products.
It seems that the current war may lead to a sharp increase in prices for agricultural products, perhaps causing starvation in some regions, especially in Africa.
Assuming the loss of harvest in Ukraine this year, and continuation of sanctions against Russia, what would be the consequences on food prices and possibly famine around the world?
