I am not really sure about the difference in meaning of "autocratic" and "republican". The only thing in my mind is that autocratic is a country where power is centered around one person, and a republic is a country where power is divided among a group of people.

In Vietnam, I saw that they have a Congress, and a decision is made by the approval of those in the Congress. But in many statements, I saw people state that Vietnam, along with China and Russia are three autocratic countries.
