How often does the EU reduce the regulatory burden for European businesses?
The EU is well known for introducing new regulations every year for everything from supply of energy to privacy on the Internet. But are there any examples of the EU reducing the regulatory burden on businesses? I’m of course aware that the Single Trade Area was a huge deregulation of its own as it effectively abolished internal borders for goods, but are there examples beyond that? I.e. the EU regulating how a certain product should be made but then changing its mind and abolishing said regulation.
I’m presuming such changes happened multiple times over the years so I’m interested in research plotting these deregulations over time.
