How did covid-19 affect the principle of reason? [closed]

The original version of this question got closed for being off topic
and a possible rant. Since it is not meant to be either the one or the
other, it was suggested to me I could rewrite it.

During this rewriting, a comment by @Trilarion made me understand it's a paradox. You can drop a nuke on someone's shoe, but if he chooses to not notice it, asking him about it is not going to change that. Under the current circumstances, sticking ones head in the sand is a perfectly understandable reaction.
