ABC News reports drug make Pfizer will seek approval to start distributing millions of vaccine doses for Covid-19 within days. The company has updated the report on its testing to say the vaccine has proven 95% effective. Earlier it claimed 90%+ effectiveness.
Pfizer and partner BioNTech announced their coronavirus vaccine is more than 95% effective in the final analysis of its massive Phase 3 trial on Wednesday, and has reached a key safety milestone that will allow the company to apply for Food and Drug Administration authorization “within days.”
The shots will be given to first responders and medical workers first, followed those most at risk. The plan is to give two shots 21 days apart. Pfizer claims only mild side affects. About 3.7% of those receiving the shots experienced fatigue and 2% claimed headaches.
