Received this e-mail today from the Progressive Change Campaign Committee:
Democrats can do so much better than callously defending this blackface and Klan picture, Dick Saslaw. This kind of mentality is exactly why IâÂÂm running for office. ItâÂÂs time for a change. https://t.co/ibrkS6E6p8

Democratic officials and progressive leaders across the country are demanding the resignation of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam after he acknowledged being one of two people in a racist photo of men in blackface and a KKK outfit.
Only 1 Virginia Democratic legislator is standing with Northam — Dick Saslaw, the Senate Democratic Leader. For the first time in 39 years, he faces a primary challenger this June: Muslim American progressive rockstar Yasmine Taeb.
She attended our first-ever PCCC National Candidate Training!
Huff Post reports, “Yasmine Taeb is part of a new wave of progressive activists challenging the Democratic establishment in influential but oft-ignored state legislatures.”
In stark contract, the right-wing The Daily Caller crows, “Virginia Senate Minority Leader Dick Saslaw doubles down in support of Northam.”
And The Intercept profiled this race just last week, opening with this headline:
A CORPORATE-FRIENDLY DEMOCRAT HAS BEEN STALLING PROGRESS FOR 40 YEARS. NOW A PRIMARY CHALLENGE MIGHT TAKE HIM OUT.
The Intercept reports “Saslaw has stymied progressive efforts to push an anti-corporate agenda in the state, voting against bills that would lead to substantive regulation of the state’s two electric monopolies, and speaking out against campaign finance reform and increased ethics and transparency regulations.”
Yasmine Taeb is running on a platform that includes a $15 minimum wage, no corporate PAC donations, and Medicare For All.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
