Received this e-mail today from Rep. Tim Ryan (D. OH-13):
You’ve always had my back. That’s why I want to be the first to tell you: I’m thinking about running to represent Ohio in the U.S. Senate.
This choice isn’t just about what I want. It’s about ensuring Ohio has a Senator that puts working people first. That’s why before I make a decision, I want to know that you have my back.
Here’s what I know:
- Ohio needs a Senator who will fight like hell for quality affordable health care for every single person in this country.
- A Senator who knows that unions built this country, and they’re the key to rebuilding a middle class that’s the envy of the world.
- Someone who’ll go to bat every single day for the millions of people working longer hours for less pay, worried about keeping food on the table, and putting their kids through school.
- A Senator who understands that we need to take aggressive action to ensure an economy that works for everyone.
If you know me, you know that I’ve been fighting on these fronts my whole career. I think the Senate could use more voices that put working people first.
I know that with your support, I can win this seat and protect our 50-50 Democratic Senate majority. Ohio deserves a Senator that puts working families first.
But this will be the most competitive election in 2022. I want to make sure that I have you on my team.
Thank you for having my back.
