Received this e-mail today from Lt. Governor nominee, Betty Sutton (D. OH), on behalf of Richard Cordray’s (D. OH) gubernatorial campaign:
Mike DeWine wants women to believe he’s had our backs and will be our champion if elected governor of Ohio.
Let me be clear, Mike DeWine is no champion for women.
Over and over again, Mike DeWine has used his office to push a radical agenda that hurts Ohio women. Just think about the things he’s done:
- Repeatedly tried to defund Planned Parenthood
- Supports the most extreme and radical anti-choice legislation overturning Roe
- Refuses to defend protections for pre-existing conditions
- Supports exempting birth control from health care coverage under the ACA
The truth is Mike DeWine has failed to stand with women throughout his whole career. Will you add your name to stand with women to stop Mike DeWine?
While waging his offensive war on women, think about everything he could have been doing. He could have saved lives by stopping the opioid crisis. He could have protected students and their families from being ripped off by ECOT. He could have stood up to the corruption that has become rampant at the Ohio Statehouse.
Instead, DeWine chose to use his position and power to try to take us back to the “good ol’ days” he longs for. I’ll be blunt: Mike DeWine will not lead our state forward, he will lead our state – and women – backwards. We can’t let that happen. We need change.
