NM, AL, IA, NH & MN-Sen: Sen. Jacky Rosen (D. NV) Goes All In To Help Democrats Win The Senate
Heading home from a vacation in Atlanta so I am playing a little catch-up. Received a few e-mails from U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D. NV) in support of Democrats running for the U.S. Senate. First, there’s this one:
When it comes to representation for women in Congress, we’ve certainly made incredible progress in the past few years. But we still have more work to do—especially in the Senate.
In 2020, it’s absolutely essential that we elect more Democratic women to the Senate, like Theresa Greenfield, and defend our current champions, like Jeanne Shaheen and Tina Smith.
Theresa Greenfield just announced her candidacy in Iowa. This is a seat that Democrats can flip to help build toward a Democratic Senate majority, and Theresa is just the candidate to do it.
Jeanne Shaheen is facing a tough reelection fight in New Hampshire, with pundits and pollsters already predicting a neck-and-neck race. It’s crucial that we help Jeanne hold on to her seat.
And in Minnesota, Tina Smith has shown that she’s not afraid to stand up to President Trump, which has made her a prime target for the GOP. But with our support, she can still win next year.
The next one is in support of U.S. Senator Doug Jones’ (D. AL) re-election campaign:
Sen. Doug Jones (D. AL)
We just got some disturbing news: disgraced former GOP candidate Roy Moore just announced that he is going to run against Doug Jones again in a U.S. Senate rematch in Alabama.
Roy Moore is a radical, far-right Republican with a history of sexual misconduct allegations from women who said that Moore pursued them as teenagers. He does not belong in the Senate.
Even though Doug Jones won the special election in 2017, it was a razor-thin race in deeply conservative Alabama. And this time, Roy Moore will pull out all the stops to defeat Doug and reclaim this Senate seat for the GOP. We can’t let that happen, Sero.
We need to keep Roy Moore out of the Senate, but that’s not the only reason people all over the country need to stand with Doug Jones right now. If we lose Alabama, it will become even harder—maybe even impossible—for Democrats to reclaim a Senate majority in 2020.
My Senate race was one of the most competitive in the entire country last year. I’ll never forget how many people chipped in and fought alongside me to turn Nevada’s Senate seat blue.
So this election, I’m putting everything I have into electing more Democratic Senators to join me.
My friend Ben Ray Luján’s race is the most competitive open Senate seat in the entire country. And believe me when I say we cannot take back the Senate without winning in New Mexico.
