Received this e-mail today from former presidential candidate, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I. VT), in support of Andru Volinsky’s (D. NH) gubernatorial campaign:
Right now, we desperately need candidates at every level of government who will fight for working people and take on the corporate interests that control our democracy. We need candidates who will fight to raise the minimum wage, combat climate change, and make sure every child has access to a quality education.
That’s why I was so proud to endorse Andru Volinsky for governor in New Hampshire. I know he will bring real change and political courage to the Granite State.
Andru has a huge filing deadline tonight, and right now, he is counting on all of us to support his campaign.
During our campaign for president, I always said that it was never just about winning a single election. It was about building a movement — and that starts by electing progressive leaders like Andru.
From the very beginning of his campaign, Andru has refused to take money from corporate PACs, LLCs, or the fossil fuel industry. He knows that accepting money from them comes at great expense to the people of New Hampshire.
The truth is that he’s the only one in this race who has made that commitment, which means he is counting on lots of small donations to build the movement required to win this race and transform New Hampshire.
With the June 15th filing deadline tonight, his campaign needs to send an unmistakable message that a grassroots, people-powered movement can take on the special interests and win.
