Some very encouraging news today out of Iowa:
Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump by two-percentage points in Iowa with just over one month to go until Election Day, according to the Nexstar Iowa RABA Research Poll released on Wednesday.
Biden leads President Trump 48% to 46% in the poll. Two-percent chose ‘Other Candidate’ and four-percent remianed ‘Not Sure’.
The poll found an age divide in Iowa. President Trump holds the advantage in voters under 50 by 8%. Biden holds a 11% lead among voters 50 and older in Iowa.
Biden’s campaign has been working closely with Bernie Sanders team to mobilize Latino support in Iowa and Nevada:
Former staffers from Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign want to harness strong support for the Vermont senator among Hispanics to bolster Joe Biden in two battleground states that could prove critical in November's election.
Nuestro PAC is launching a 30-second spot that will begin airing Thursday for two weeks in heavily Hispanic Nevada and in Iowa, another state where the growing Latino population is largely overlooked. Backed by a six-figure ad buy, the spot features Hispanic staffers of Sanders' campaign saying they worked hard for him during the Democratic primary, “But now, we're all for Joe Biden, because Biden's endorsed by Bernie.”
“We're going to go into states where Bernie just dominated the Latino vote to help lift up Biden,” said the group's founder, Chuck Rocha, who headed the Sanders campaign's Hispanic outreach. “In Iowa, going to Latinos will surprise people … but they're there, and we won them by huge margins. And the opposite side of that equation is going into Nevada to shore him up with young Latinos.”
One day after the first presidential debate, the Iowa campaign base for Democratic candidate Joe Biden, announced a plan to demonstrate inadequacies in President Donald Trump's COVID-19 response.
During Tuesday night's debate, President Trump defended his handling of the pandemic.
“You didn’t think we should have closed our country because you thought it was terrible. You wouldn’t have closed it for another two months. By my doing it early, in fact, Dr. Fauci said, “President Trump saved thousands of lives.” Many of your Democrat Governors said, “President Trump did a phenomenal job.” We worked with the Governor. Oh really, go take a look. The Governors said I did a phenomenal job. Most of them said that. In fact, people that would not be necessarily on my side said that, “President Trump did a phenomenal job.” We did. We got the gowns. We got the masks. We made the ventilators. You wouldn’t have made ventilators. And now we’re weeks away from a vaccine. We’re doing therapeutics already. Fewer people are dying when they get sick. Far fewer people are dying. We’ve done a great job.” Click here to read the full transcript from the debate.
