Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D. MA) on behalf of Democracy for America in support of Kara Eastman’s (D. NE-02) campaign:
Republicans are scared to face the voters this November.
So they’re calling in the cavalry – asking their biggest donors to sling the filthiest mud against some of our strongest Democratic candidates.
Paul Ryan’s pet Super PAC is flooding the airwaves with false attacks – and in some cases dog-whistle garbage – in districts that will help decide whether Democrats win back the House.
My friends at Democracy for America are closely watching Paul Ryan's Super PAC spending — and where the biggest impact can be made in races across the country. That's why I'm joining with DFA to ask you to defend Kara Eastman, who is running for Congress in Nebraska, against these Super PAC smears.
Paul Ryan’s Super PAC – the Congressional Leadership Fund – has raised over $100 million from sources like Sheldon Adelson, Koch Industries, and Big Oil.
A recent New York Times story explained that lots of their megadonors benefited from the Republicans’ $1.5 trillion tax scam. They grab tax breaks with one hand – and shove campaign cash at Republicans with the other.
Now they’re attacking Democrats like Kara – a first-time candidate who’s fighting for strong progressive values. She’s dedicated her life’s work to serving others, including starting a nonprofit housing organization, Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance.
But get this: the right-wing Super PAC is attacking Kara for supporting Medicare for All and opposing Donald Trump’s $1.5 trillion tax scam.
We’ve been through this before. Dark-money groups – funded by right-wing billionaires – have dumped buckets of money into nasty attack ads against me.
We’ve been able to fight back because we’re a grassroots army, chipping in a few donations at a time.
Thanks for being a part of this,
