I received this e-mail from VoteVets in support of Cal Cunningham’s (D. NC) U.S. Senate campaign:

When you make a contribution to VoteVets, you know that every dollar is going towards representing the lives and needs of veterans and military families.

Because of this team, we’ve already spent millions across the country supporting progressive veterans running for Congress, and the impact we’ve made as the outside spending group that has invested the most money this cycle, is indisputable.

Last week, one of our Senate candidates — Cal Cunningham in North Carolina — was the target of the largest super PAC supporting Republican Senate candidates. They started a shadow operation and spent millions propping up one of Cal’s Democratic primary challengers because they know if Thom Tillis faces Cal in November that we will have successfully sent Thom packing for good.

Because of this team’s generous support and dedication to electing candidates that will always fight for veterans and military families, we’ve already directed millions of dollars towards defending Cal and his vision for North Caroline and our country.

But if we’re going up against millions of dollars from Mitch McConnell-backed Republican super PACs, we need to hit back harder than ever. Can you make a donation of $3 today to help us respond to this Republican attack?

Shady tactics like this is an example of the very kind of partisan corruption Cal would rein in as North Carolina’s next Senator. Mitch McConnell and Thom Tillis know they have failed North Carolina, and that’s exactly why they’re meddling in this election, to the tune of millions of dollars in advertising money.

McConnell and Tillis know they can’t run on their record, but this is a new low, even for them.

This team is one of the strongest lines of defense Cal has, and electing him is a critical piece of the puzzle to flip the Senate and restore accountability and order to our government this November.

Thanks for chipping in anything you can to help us fight back against targeted efforts by partisan hacks to derail his campaign.
