Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D. NH) on behalf of the group, End Citizens United, in support of Cal Cunningham’s (D. NC) U.S. Senate campaign:

With Mitch McConnell and President Trump threatening the fabric of our Democracy, Democrats need more allies in the Senate.

That’s why I’m reaching out today. We have a huge opportunity to elect Democrat Cal Cunningham in North Carolina — a poll shows he’s 2% ahead of the GOP incumbent.

But Cal is facing a huge public fundraising deadline TONIGHT.

Republicans are already targeting Cal because the Washington Post calls this one of the top 5 Senate races most likely to flip. This race will undoubtedly be incredibly expensive, and Cal needs the resources to compete with Republican corporate special interests.

So I have to ask: Can you please spare just $5 to take back the Senate and win in North Carolina?

I’ve always believed that elected officials should represent people, not corporate special interests — Cal Cunningham does too.

He’s committed to bringing transparency and accountability to Washington. Take it from me, Cal is the real deal.

I need him in the Senate to help me fight back against the flood of money in Washington. But his Senate race will be extremely close.

Will you please make a high priority donation to this must-win North Carolina Senate Election right now? >>

Corporate special interests will do everything they can to make sure they keep this Senate seat for Republicans. But we can’t afford to lose.

If you believe money shouldn’t dictate whether a person is heard, if you believe in taking back our Democracy, then Cal needs your help today.

Will you please chip in just $5 to Democrat Cal Cunningham’s Senate campaign in North Carolina?

Your help can make a real difference in this race.

So thank you very much for getting involved.

With every good wish,

Maggie Hassan
United States Senator from New Hampshire
