NC-Sen: Cal Cunningham (D) Goes After Trump For Refusing To Fully Fund The U.S. Postal Service

Received this e-mail today from Cal Cunningham’s (D. NC) U.S. Senate campaign:

Hello —

Year-round but especially during a pandemic, the United States Postal Service plays a key role in getting families the essentials they need — especially for rural communities here in North Carolina.

Millions of folks depend on the USPS to receive their wages, Social Security benefits, prescription drugs, mail ballots to safely vote from home — you name it.

Now more than ever, we need a functioning postal service without raising costs on cash-strapped families. But even as the economic impact of the coronavirus grows, Donald Trump refuses to provide federal relief for this critical public service.

Without emergency funding, the USPS could run out of money this summer. Not long after that, it could collapse — leaving hundreds of thousands of Americans without jobs and tens of millions without the important services they provide.

Sign my petition to demand relief from the Trump administration to save the USPS and protect 500,000 essential workers’ jobs — many of whom are veterans. Our postal service is a critical lifeline for our families and our communities, especially right now.

Our postal workers have put their lives on the line to keep us all connected and make sure folks receive essential deliveries during this crisis. Whether it’s through snow, rain, heat — we can rely on them no matter what.

That’s why it’s so critical we do everything we can to keep the USPS functioning.

Thanks for everything. Take care and stay safe.

— Cal
