Received this e-mail from Helena Mayor Wilmot Collins’ (D. MT) U.S. Senate campaign:
Wilmot Collins (D. MT)
Friend,
This is not a campaign about me—this campaign is about all Montanans.
Electricians in Butte. Teachers in Bozeman. Nurses in Billings. Firefighters in Helena. Carpenters in Great Falls. This campaign is about working families in Missoula and Ravalli County and the hardworking men and women all across this great state from Kalispell to Miles City and everywhere in between.
As Montanans, we know the value of a hard day's work. And all Montana workers deserve to be represented by someone who shares those values and will stand up for them against special interests in Washington, D.C. As your next Senator, I will fight for working people every day.
As a proud MFPE union member I stand with my union brothers and sisters and will walk picket lines with them. As Montana’s next United States Senator I will fight for unions every day.
We must never allow what happened at the lockout of Montana workers in Three Forks last summer to ever happen again. We must never allow a foreign-owned corporation—or any corporation—to lock out workers in a shameless attempt to break the union and slash benefits.
Together, we can and will work harder to implement basic labor standards for employees. We can make sure enormous corporations are not gaming our system to benefit shareholders and CEOs rather than the workers that are trying to make ends meet and provide for their families.
Together, we will protect a worker’s right to collectively bargain for better wages and working conditions, as well as fight to end misclassifying employees as independent contractors.
And we must fight to hold multinational corporations accountable who don’t care about workers. We must fight the forces of division and greed who look to break up our American unions.
