Here’s the latest news today out of Montana courtesy of PPP’s latest poll:
PPP’s new Montana poll finds the race for Senate as tight as it can be. Steve Bullock and Steve Daines are each at 48%. Beyond that, they have nearly identical approval ratings for their work in their current offices. Bullock has a net +4 rating as Governor, with 48% approving and 44% disapproving of the job he’s doing. Daines has a net +4 rating as Senator, with 47% approving and 43% disapproving of the job he’s doing.
Bullock is keeping the race tied despite the overall Republican lean of the state by winning independent voters 49-44 and also by winning 90% of Democrats, compared to Daines’ 85% of Republicans. Bullock is getting 11% crossover support from GOP voters.
Although Donald Trump is likely to win Montana again the 6 point lead he holds at 52-46 represents a considerable decline in his advantage in the state from 2016 when he won it by 20 points.
