MS-Sen: Human Rights Campaign Endorses Mike Espy (D) For U.S. Senate

Received this e-mail today from Mike Espy’s (D. MS) U.S. Senate campaign:

After receiving more than 75 endorsements from local and state leaders across Mississippi this week, Mike secured another big endorsement from the national LGBTQ advocacy group Human Rights Campaign (HRC).

Mike is proud to have the endorsement of HRC once again, as he did in his 2018 Senate race, because he believes in the worth of every Mississippian regardless of age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or varying levels of disability.

He’s proven to be a strong ally for the LGBTQ community and has committed to co-sponsoring and voting for the Equality Act if elected, crucial federal legislation that would finally guarantee explicit protections for LGBTQ people under our nation's existing civil rights laws.

Here’s what HRC President Alphonso David had to say about Mike:

“Mike Espy is a true ally to LGBTQ people and will be a strong advocate for Mississippi in the U.S. Senate. Espy’s record of delivering for Mississippi stands in stark contrast to Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith who has failed Mississippi at every opportunity. Hyde-Smith’s indifference towards people of color and LGBTQ people is disqualifying and HRC will work hard to mobilize the almost 100,000 Equality Voters throughout the state to send Mike Espy to the U.S. Senate.”

With only THREE days left until Mississippi’s Democratic primary, will you join HRC in supporting Mike today by pitching in $10 or more towards his campaign?

As Alphonso said, Mississippians deserve a leader in the Senate who will fight for their rights, and Hyde-Smith has shown she is simply not that leader.

Let’s be sure to do everything in our power to send Mike to Washington to be an ally for every Mississippian.

Thanks,

Team Espy
