The goal of vaccinating 20 million Americans against Covid 19 was finally reached today almost four weeks after the Trump Administration’s goal of 20 million vaccinated in 2020.
The Center for Disease Control reports 1,111,640 were vaccinated today. Just as important, about 2.9 million total doses of the two approved vaccines were delivered in each of the last couple of days. Hopefully, this will help relieve one of the problems in the slow rollout of the vaccinations, shortage of supply.
Cumulative Numbers 1/24 1/25 1/26 1/27
Doses delivered: 41,411,550 41,418,325 44,394,075 47,230.950
Shots administered: 21,848,655 22,734,243 23,540,994 24,652,634
People vaccinated: 18,502,131 19,252,279 19,902,237 20.687.970
Second dose delivered: 3,216,836 3,346,390 3,481,921 3,801,053
The big development next week will be if the FDA approves a new vaccine from Johnson and Johnson. This vaccine requires only one shot, requires only normal refrigeration, and hopefully can be produced in great quantities. Futhermore, having multiple safe and effective vaccines means it is less likely a mutated strain of the virus will leave us without a good way to achieve immunity.
Johnson & Johnson announced that it is likely to release the Phase 3 trial results of its Covid-19 vaccine candidate soon… (financial) analyst Cory Kasimov expects results from the Phase 3 study of JNJ’s Covid-19 vaccine candidate to be released next week.
