Received this e-mail today from former presidential candidate, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D. MA), in support of State Auditor Nicole Galloway’s (D. MO) gubernatorial campaign:
The last few months have made it clear just how much it matters who America’s governors are — not just for our own states, but across the country. Working families need governors who fight to make life better for them, not just insiders and well-connected mega-donors.
That’s why today, I’m emailing you about State Auditor Nicole Galloway, who has a real shot at flipping the state and defeating Republican Governor Mike Parson this November to become the first woman elected governor in Missouri.
I’m honored to fight alongside her because I know she’ll be a governor who fights for everyday Missourians, not the special interests. If you’re in a place to donate, will you join me in supporting Nicole by making a donation of $10 right now?
Nicole Galloway has spent her career taking on corrupt politicians and special interests — and winning. As State Auditor, she has uncovered more than $350 million in wasted taxpayer money and brought more than fifty criminal counts against corrupt public officials. As Governor, she’ll take on the political insiders in Jefferson City to fight for affordable healthcare, improve public schools, and make it easier for hard-working families to get by in Missouri.
Meanwhile, her opponent, Governor Mike Parson has been powerless to end the culture of waste and corruption dominating politics in Missouri. In many ways, he’s a creature of it. His administration “found savings” by wrongly kicking 100,000 kids off their health insurance through the state’s Medicaid program, while just last year he called a special legislative session about tax breaks for sales on yachts and used cars.
And during this pandemic, he’s been behind just about every other governor on taking immediate action to confront the spread of COVID-19 — he even still refuses to wear a mask at most public gatherings.
It is NOT enough to win the White House. It is NOT enough to win the Senate. This election year, we need to elect bold leaders who will make government put people first at every level.
Nicole’s race is one just a handful of most competitive elections for governor this year, and every dollar will make a big impact. So please, if you’re able to, I’m asking you to pitch in whatever you can to support her campaign today.
Thank you for being a part of this grassroots effort,
