Received this e-mail today from Presidential candidate and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D. MA) in support of U.S. Senator Tina Smith’s (D. MN) re-election campaign:
Donald Trump barely lost Minnesota in 2016 — in fact, he was just 1.5 percentage points from flipping it.
This time around, he'll be dumping truckloads of money into Minnesota to try to swing this election in his favor — and to get another lapdog in the Senate by replacing my friend and colleague Tina Smith with Republican Jason Lewis.
We can't let that happen. We need Tina in the Senate to fight back against health insurance companies, to help students getting crushed by debt, and to hold Wall Street accountable for hurting working people.
I'll just be blunt: this will be one heck of a tough fight. Republicans have a network of dark money groups and super PACs at their every beck and call, and we know they like to play big-money politics because they're afraid of the grassroots energy we bring to the fight.
And you know what? They should be.
We've shown time and again that when a groundswell of grassroots support comes through, we can take on the special interests and win. So, when people like you and I fight alongside leaders like Tina, that's the most powerful political force in the country.
Pitch in $10 or whatever you can today to fight for Tina before her most important end-of-quarter deadline of the year. Every dollar makes a difference in our work to save Minnesota's Senate seat and send Donald Trump packing next year.
There's a whole lot on the line next year — from winning back the White House to flipping the Senate. But our path to take back the Senate gets way too rocky if we don't defend Tina.
That's why I'm asking you to chip in and help stop Donald Trump and Jason Lewis in Minnesota. Together, we can win this fight, but it's going to take all we have to do it.
Thanks for being a part of this,
