Received this e-mail today from the Council for a Livable World:
We now have less than six months to go until the November election. We have to pay close attention to swing states like Minnesota in hopes of keeping it in progressive hands. Hillary Clinton narrowly won the state in 2016, but it is a top target for President Trump and his fellow hawks.
In November 2018,Sen. Tina Smith (D)won a special election after being appointed in January 2018. This year, Republicans have settled on provocative former Rep. Jason Lewis, a former shock-jock known for his anti-woman and anti-gay rants.
Dan Feehan (D-MN-01)is running in a rural district he lost by only 1,315 votes in 2018. Feehan is a decorated Army veteran who also served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Readiness) in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness). Right now, Feehan is still fighting to overcome a slight advantage to win held by incumbent Rep. Jim Hagedorn.
Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN-02)was the first woman to be elected from this district and the first openly gay person elected to Congress from Minnesota. Craig is a classic success story, having been raised by a single mom and grown up in a mobile home park. She worked two jobs to put herself through college.
