Minerva @ Midnight: the MTG versus AOC debate on the GND likely will not happen
This proposed “debate” between Marjorie Taylor Greene and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should generate plenty of charitable pay-per-view revenues. Enough to build a space laser.
The outcome should also resemble Bambi meets Godzilla. There’s yet to be a response from AOC, and MTG is busy trying to expel Maxine Waters.
Last week, Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene publicly challenged fellow congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) to a debate on the Green New Deal.
“I’d like to challenge you to a debate on the Green New Deal economic policy. Since you sponsored the Green New Deal and have a degree in Economics, I’m sure you are more than qualified,” Greene tweeted last Wednesday.
Fast forward to exactly a week later, and Greene is now claiming Ocasio-Cortez agreed to a debate — under certain conditions.
- Some pointed out the “self-own” contained in Greene’s tweet, namely the fact that she inadvertently admitted that she hasn’t read the contents of the Green New Deal, a proposal that she’s been a consistent critic of.
- “You’ve been sh***ing on this bill and HAVEN’T EVEN READ IT YET?!” wrote on Twitter user in response to Greene. “To be fair, it’s a whole 14 pages with no pictures.”
It remains to be seen if this debate will even happen, or if Greene is entirely telling the truth about the ‘agreement’ between her and AOC.
Greene said that with her degree in business administration and experience running a company and Ocasio-Cortez’s degree in economics, a debate “would be informative for the American People.”
Greene said she and Ocasio-Cortez could each pick a moderator.

The debate would be on a major news network negotiated between the two, Greene said.
