I have a humble request for all of the non-FAUX News media outlets out there. Pretty please, with sprinkles on top, do you think you can pull your collective heads out of Michael Cohen’s ass long enough to take a good look around? There is some serious shit going on right now, and you’re barely paying lip service to it, much less covering it in the depth that it deserves.

Anybody here remember a little controversy having to do with child separation at the southern border? Remember the anguished cries, and the outraged protests? How about the heart wrenching pirated audio tapes of screaming migrant children, with arrogant, uncaring guards cracking sarcastic jokes at their expense? The first pictures of cages with concrete floors being used to store toddlers and small children like the good scotch in the back of a liquor store?

That’s all still right there. And it’s still a vital issue. And we got a picture window view of it yesterday, in a congressional hearing. And MSNBC and CNN barely covered it, airing only a couple of snippets of FS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s testimony once an hour, and only on one occasion did it warrant a segment with a panel discussion of the content.

Nielsen got her Nordic ass handed to her on a silver platter yesterday in her public testimony. And of all of the myriad of sins that she was responsible for which one became the focal point of the hearing? Her constant attempts to parse the dictionary definition of what constitutes a fucking cage! She spent all of her time trying to refer to them as “”security containment areas.” Let’s be clear, what we’re talking about here are areas of metal poles sunk into the concrete floor, from floor to ceiling, with chain link fencing affixed to it all the way around, with a gate in it. In other words, a cage. If it were outside, with or without a tarp covering it, it would be called a “run,: or a “pen.” Nielsen tried to separate it from the cage she wold keep her dog in while she’s at work by saying that it “had facilities like a chair” in it. News flash. You could put a blanket on the floor for your dog, but that wouldn’t mean that it wasn’t still a cage!

This issue has the potential to be kryptonite for the GOP in 2020, and I’m not talking about just Trump. This wound is still raw, and Trump has said or done nothing to make people think that he won’t do it again if he gets the chance. We have all seen the pictures of Nielsen’s “security confinement areas,” and they’re actually called cages. Note this one thing. Nowhere in the testimony that I saw did Nielsen ever contend that immigrant children were never kept in them, she simply insisted to play semantic games as to what they should officially be called.

Look, forget about Trump’s “base.” I’m talking about sentient beings here, you know, ones with the sense God gave a piss ant. Those are cages, and people know it. There are a whole lotta Republicans out there who are going to have to run for reelection next year with Trump at the top of the ballot, and they’ve mostly been as silent as Marcel Marceau, and the more this is spotlighted in committee hearings, the more those voters are going to want to know where their candidates stand on this issue. There

And it isn’t just the child separation issue. Soon enough, the House is going to start holding hearings on whether or not Trump used his executive power to kibosh a plan to build a new FBI headquarters in the Virginia suburbs to avoid having a new luxury hotel going up one block from his Washington cash cow. There are going to be hearings on how security clearances are being issued at the White House, and whether Trump is endangering national security by overriding the judgement of career officials where family members are concerned. There may be hearings about Trump and pardons. The possibilities for the public airings of Trump’s unethical and possibly illegal shenanigans are endless, and they all beg the question of what GOP incumbents think about them, and why they followed Trump so blindly and subserviently.

The secret is going to be in getting the media to cover the damn things properly. And no, not every one. We don’t need to know the inner workings of price support for pecan farmers. And we don’t necessarily need the entire hearing covered gavel to gavel either. But when hearings are held that bring to light possible bad behavior by The Pampers President, his cabinet, and the GOP flunkies that enable him, there needs to be proper coverage as to what it means, and why it’s important. One of the reasons that the Democrats won the House in November was because people wanted there to be oversight of Trump and his merry band of freebooters. Now that there is, it’s the medias responsibility to report on it. The bloom is already off of the rose for Trump with 63% of the population. Now we just have to stick him and the rest of the GOP with the thorns.

Copies of President Evil, and the sequel, President Evil II, A Clodwork Orange are still sitting around collecting dust, and Amazon is starting to send me nasty e-mails. And what better time to get reacquainted with the roller coaster that was the 2016 election cycle than before the release of the final volume of the trilogy, President Evil III, All the Presidents Fen.
