Received this e-mail from U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D. WI) in support of her colleague, U.S. Senator Gary Peters (D. MI) re-election campaign:
Michigan and Wisconsin have a lot in common, Samuel. We both have economies built on the manufacturing industry, a respect for our natural resources and our Great Lakes — and of course, we both make some pretty good beer, too.
Both states also went to Trump in 2016. That means the GOP have their eyes on the Senate race in Michigan, just like they had their eyes on ours last year — which is why I’m reaching out to you about my friend Gary Peters who is up for re-election.
In the Senate, Gary has worked to protect access to quality, affordable health care and he’s been a champion for environmental protections — working to restore the Great Lakes and fighting for clean air and water.
Gary also works hard to stand up to this administration’s dangerous agenda. So, you can bet President Trump and his Republican allies will do whatever it takes to send him packing next year — because they know full well that Democrats can’t take back the Senate without Gary. That’s why I’m asking:
Will you chip in $10 or more toward Gary Peters’ re-election campaign? We can’t turn the Senate blue without him, and we can’t afford to lose his progressive leadership. Make a contribution to Gary’s campaign today to help him prepare for the long, expensive fight ahead.
From protecting our Great Lakes and building our manufacturing economies, to equal pay for equal work, we have a lot to do in the Senate. I hope you’ll join me in making sure Gary and I can continue our work together on the issues that matter most.
