Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D. IL) in support of Sara Gideon’s (D. ME) U.S. Senate campaign:
Sara Gideon recently launched her campaign against Susan Collins for U.S. Senate in Maine — and now we know she can win.
A new poll shows Susan Collins’ approval rating has dropped 44 points since 2017, and it’s still plummeting.
If Democrats are going to take back the Senate in 2020, we have to win in Maine. This is a critical — and flippable — seat. So I’m asking you:
We’ve seen what happens when Republicans — led by Mitch McConnell — control the U.S. Senate. That’s how we ended up with Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, largely thanks to Susan Collins’ tie-breaking vote.
This is our chance to change things. Our chance to elect a Senate that will work for our shared goals: equal pay, access to quality, affordable healthcare and a woman’s right to choose. We need someone who will vote in support of these goals, not someone who says they will then turns around and does Mitch McConnell’s bidding.
So let’s give Sara’s race everything we’ve got. Are you with me?
Thanks for your fight,
